From Pixels to FAIR Data: Challenges, Tools, and Facility Insights on Sharing Microscopy Data

This Lunch & Learn series offers members of the UZH insights into various aspects of Open Science.
The event begins with a half-hour input presentation and concludes with an open Q&A session.

Allgemeine Informationen

Presenters: José Maria Mateos Melero & Flurin Sturzenegger | UZH, Center for Microscopy and Image Analysis

Ensuring microscopy data adheres to FAIR principles—Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable—presents a multifaceted challenge for researchers and data managers.

In this talk, we will outline the services we offer as well as the challenges we face as data stewards at the Center for Microscopy and Image Analysis. We will focus on preparing microscopy data for FAIR compliance, including issues related to data formats, the need for data converters to open-source formats, and the role of metadata standards such as REMBI. Additionally, we will provide an overview of microscopy repositories and their key features. Finally, we will highlight the educational resources we offer to support FAIR data practices.
